Caramel Dumplings

Ingredients
- DUMPLINGS
- 1¼ cup SR flour
- Pinch salt
- 60 grams butter
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ⅓ cup milk
- SAUCE
- 60 grams butter
- 1½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1½ cups water
Method
- DUMPLINGS
- Sift flour and salt into bowl. Rub in butter with tips of fingers
- Add sugar
- Add combined milk and vanilla.
- Use a teaspoon to scoop equal quantities of the dumpling mixture onto the lined tray (use a second teaspoon to carefully release the dumpling mixture from the first spoon)
- SAUCE
- Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan
- Stir constantly until boiling
- Reduce heat
- Drop dumplings into simmering sauce. Cover. Simmer 20 minutes
- Serve warm with sauce and custard or cream
