Homemade KFC

Information about Karen: Karen and her husband Les have inherited some wonderful recipes passed down from family members. She is an amazing "home" cook and everyone goes back for seconds. Karen has kindly shared some of her amazing recipes with us for this site.

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 kg Chicken Pieces
  • 2 Eggs
  • 600 ml Buttermilk
  • 2 cup Plain Flour
  • 2 tspn Paprika
  • 1 tspn Chinese 5 Spice
  • 1 Tblspn Onion Salt
  • 1 Tblspn Mixed Herbs
  • 1 Tblspn Garlic Steak Seasoning
  • 1/4 tspn Salt and Pepper
  • Oil for Deep Frying
Method
  • Place chicken pieces in a large bowl then add combined milk and egg mix
  • Coat chicken evenly and regfrigerate for several hours
  • Mix all dry ingredients together in a bowl and coat chicken, one piece at a time
  • Put on tray to rest
  • Deep fry chicken pieces a few at a time until golden brown
  • Drain on paper towel then place on a wire rack oven a baking tray
  • Place in 180C oven for 15-20 minutes until chicken is cooked thru
